I would never say that Consoles are bad, or “over” to coin a phrase; I’ve just given the counterexample in this very post. But they’re… and I have to laugh at this. In my family they’re something dad does, like befriend waiters or swear in the garage.

rafi-dangelo:

Michael Brown’s parents held a press conference today and they reiterated their hope that Darren Wilson would be arrested.  I could pretend to be surprised that he’s still free, but it took the police six weeks to arrest George Zimmerman.

They’ve already protested.  Some have already rioted.  The vast majority of the media is in agreement that something is off. And people around the world are in support of Michael Brown, but Darren Wilson is still at home.

What else can we do?  What else can we do?

The way this is slipping out of public conversation is evidence of just how troubling the issue of race is in our country. Keep bringing this up.

‘Cloud Face’ is a collection of cloud images that are recognized as human face by a face-detection algorithm. It is a result of computer’s vision error, but they often look like faces to human eyes, too. This work attempts to examine the relation between computer vision and human vision.”

I would hang this print up at home.

Islamic State strongholds 13.aug.2014 [940×560]

From everything I’ve understood about the situation, this is a much better visualization to understand how much land is being held. Saying they are in charge of the large swaths of land is not accurate, but clarifying that they control these stretches of land to operate as permiters is much more sensible way to understand how they’re taking as much control as they are at the moment.

Watch out for each other. Love everyone and forgive everyone, including yourself. Forgive your anger. Forgive your guilt. Your shame. Your sadness. Embrace and open up your love, your joy, your truth, and most especially your heart.

lilithfilm:

Announcing my new feature project, 6 ANGRY WOMEN.

Yes, this is my take on Sidney Lumet’s classic 12 Angry Men, except set against a fictional trial of the murder of a young black teenager. Sound familiar? It should. Between Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown / Ferguson and Eric Garner, this is a subject that is not only timely but necessary.

The twist of this production is that I’m going into rehearsals without a screenplay, only an outline, a set of objectives, and a ton of research. I’m going to count on my actresses to improvise and build the script in rehearsals, an approach used with great skill by one of my cinematic heroes, Mike Leigh.

I, of course, am no Mike Leigh and I find the approach absolutely terrifying. I’m a scientist by nature, I plan things out to molecular detail. »

“I always say, "What are we going to do with these cards when I die?” And my daughter, Melissa, said, “Give them to the Smithsonian, they take anything.‘ Anything. And they’re not allowed to sell!”

If these jokes don’t end up in the smithsonian I am going to be very dissapointed. Joan Rivers was a national treasure.

Michael Schulman remembers Joan Rivers:

“Everyone who called her the Queen of Mean was missing the point: life is what’s mean, and she was here to let us know how funny that is.”
