Dissenting Opinion.
There’s only one bad movie. A boring one. There’s only one bad movie, a movie that doesn’t captivate or interest, that doesn’t make you care about it. That’s why “so bad it’s good” exists, because The Room and Troll 2 and Ed Wood are captivating in their horribleness. But there’s only one truly bad movie. I just happen to keep buying tickets to see it.
This is easily one of the best movie review blogs I’ve seen in a long time. His reviews are long and are written to piss people off to a certain degree. That’s only to make you pay attention. His arguments are sound and worth your time.

La Cinémathèque’s two story floor plan for their Stanley Kubrick exhibit. Which apparently will be coming to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, November through June of next year.
I think Warhol’s films are the last thing that will be discovered and will be even as big as his other art. That’s still to come, when people finally have in their homes a way to display video art seamlessly, like they would a painting. The Warhol films did that style of video art first, and they’ll be there forever.

It’s not important to scare people. I want to surprise way more than to scare. Scary would be, like, me in skinny jeans. A 65-year-old man who’s angry is a loser. A 20-year-old angry man is a sexy leader. Nothing makes me angry anymore.

Small World News is excited to announce that we are designing a yet to be named android app. The app will support citizen journalists and professionals alike in the production of multimedia news packages.
Specifically, this open source app enables existing and aspiring journalists all over the world to produce and publish professional-grade news with their Android phone, as safely and securely as possible. It provides an interactive training guide, walkthroughs, and templates for users to follow as they plan their piece and capture media. The app then helps assemble the content into a finished format, with cuts and basic graphics.
Our long time colleagues at the Guardian Project will be handling the development work for the app. They’re one of the best android development organizations out there and we should know. We’ve been testing out their »

“When I was young there were beatniks. Hippies. Punks. Gangsters. Now you’re a hacktivist. Which I would probably be if I was 20. Shuttin’ down MasterCard. But there’s no look to that lifestyle! Besides just wearing a bad outfit with bad posture. Has WikiLeaks caused a look? No! I’m mad about that. If your kid comes out of the bedroom and says he just shut down the government, it seems to me he should at least have an outfit for that.”

This movie is not up to the standard of the series, it is disappointing, and I STILL ENJOYED IT. That’s the sad thing. I sat through all the glaring plot holes and inconsistencies and rug puller ending, and I enjoyed it. There is too much good stuff happening, and too much good visuals, and too much fun times that it’s just an unrelenting machine. It’s like a Ford F-350 strapped with fireworks and blasting AC/DC. While you’re watching it launch over the Grand Canyon, who gives a shit if it has really rough transmission and the engine misfires every so often. But, you aren’t going to choose to ride in it once the fireworks end and you just want to cruise around town.

A random goofy little project that was filmed back in January in an afternoon, finally finished and online. Truly a sideshow of a sideshow.
“ what was best for the film was to scan our neg, which was in very worn condition. With this Crisp knowingly opened a Pandora’s Box, but for the betterment of the film. He’s been working with those elements tirelessly for two years, and went far beyond what any studio executive would normally have done. My hat is off.”
– Robert Harris, who made the restoration print from which this negative was struck.
Mr. Crisp you are a gentleman and a scholar, thank you for your efforts.

In almost every other industry where things are built, it is expected that all requirements and details are agreed upon and finalized before building commences. Except in software. In software there’s “not enough time” to gather all the requirements ahead of time. The importance of moving quickly is hammered into us from day one. And so engineers learn to fill in the gaps left by product managers just to keep the project going. Product managers, of course, also have the reputation for changing their minds frequently, which means engineers assumptions are often invalidated partway through the process. Is it any wonder that software engineers tend to burn out quickly and change jobs frequently?

Seal Team Six for Blood Clots
“The beauty of these nanoparticles is that they will not deliver this drug to any other place but the area of stress,” says Heyu Ni, platelet biologist at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Canada, specifically referring to blood clot sites. Another advantage of the approach, he says, is that it gets around the issue of estimating the amount of anticlotting medication to give a patient. High dosages are effective but could cause excessive bleeding, whereas small doses are much safer but may not get the job done. The nanoparticles skirt this problem by depositing a small amount of medication directly on the clot. He notes that the nanoparticles could be used as a diagnostic tool to seek out blockages that may need to be removed surgically, since places where the nanoparticles wind up are easier to spot with ultrasound. “This »
