What does this mean? ’Powered by Hype Machine’? Has Tumblr partnered up with HypeM? Are they just using HypeM to draw in this data? Is this an ad? How can I look at more besides Bloc Party, Ting Tings and MGMT on the Explore page?
Please reblog any feedback you get on this, the new exploring options are a step backwards in my opinion.

You’re correct, after digging through the comments, dw seems to have shown the list to be false. After the comment with the list, there are a lot of people asking for a source. Librarians are awesome.

Six foreigners given 10 days’ detention: Beijing police
Beijing police said Thursday it had handed out 10-day detention terms to six foreigners believed by an overseas activist group to be pro-Tibet campaigners involved in Olympic protests this week.
In a brief faxed statement, the city police information department said “Thomas” and five other foreigners had been apprehended on Tuesday for “upsetting public order”, without identifying the six people any further.
“Beijing police decided to give the six 10 days of administrative detention,” the faxed statement said.
Well, it’s not confirmed, but it looks pretty likely that Brian and Jeff are among these six. Keep your fingers crossed.
I can’t speak for everyone arrested, but as a good friend of Brian and Jeff I can say for sure that they both went to China knowing full well that their actions would likely put them in a jail cell.
You can argue the politeness, success, or showboating nature of these actions all day long. But there is a clear advantage to internationals protesting in China. As Americans Jeff and Brian have far better odds of coming out of a Chinese prison then a Tibetan monk would.
Why did my friends feel the need to go to China? Well, even though it’s from Jeff, this quote summarizes both of their opinions.
“For me this is not just about Tibet but, about a greater movement of liberation and the self-determination of all oppressed people throughout the world.”
