Guess who has a kidney stone?! Ooh! Ooh! Me! Me! So I had my ultrasound this morning, rather pleasant walk down there with my nurse today. She’s my favorite kind of nurse, the joking kind. She knows that making jokes is the best way to get through a day here. Anyway, so I got my ultrasound, found out they actually have a special machine to keep the jelly at a warm temperature. I then went back to bed. I woke up two hours later to my hematologist friends informing me that they found a stone in my right kidney. Now, this is where things get kind of interesting. When I was admitted for the intense pain on Saturday night, it was on my right side. So, nobody is sure if I had two stones and I passed one already. They are talking to the Urologists now and are going to get back to me. I guess I’m going to go see what’s on AMC and TMC. P.S. I don’t think its possible for hospital food not to suck.
Also, I had a realization last night. I think of all the people in the world, Jule Maurer is probably the most likely to truly appreciate hospital life the way I do. People bring your breakfast, lunch and dinner right to your bed. Regardless if you eat it or not! And then they take it away. You can sleep all day. I repeat, you can sleep all day. When people need to talk to you they come right to your bed, and then you can go back to sleep when they are done. Nobody ever expects you to change. The Light switch is attached to a remote control, which, is within arms reach. And even when you do have to get up you don’t have to go outside. You have a shower that is within steps of your bed. Also, when people come to visit you they feel obligated to bring you something! So basically Jule, you really should try out this whole hospital thing sometime. This also goes out to everybody, but I know I’m essentially describing Jule’s fantasies.
