Broadband access remains prohibitively expensive for many living in developing countries. This has led to what is commonly termed the “digital divide”. Africa has one of the lowest rates of subscription; in comparison, Europe’s is one hundred times higher. The top two countries with the highest broadband penetration per capita are also in Europe: Iceland and Denmark.
